3. OMEGA Seamaster Automatic Date. c1961.
Omega Seamaster automatic date from 1961.
The watch is in pristine unmarked condition, absolutely superb. The crystal is completely unmarked and is signed in the center as it should be. The dial is clean and bright and blemish free. The dial is signed Omega automatic Seamaster Swiss made. The date window is at the 3 o'clock position.
The hour markers are batons and both they and the hands are in gold. The date window is also edged in gold. The stainless steel case and screw down stainless steel back are completely free from dents, scratches or dings. The screw down stainlees back carries the seamonster motif and the stainless winding crown has the Omega symbol on it. The winding crown doesn't look to have any visible wear and its operation is nice and positive. This watch features a heavy case and heavy thick lugs and looks great. One of the better styles in my opinion, really looks the part. The watch is fitted with a genuine Omega strap and Omega buckle. The strap is black leather and the buckle is stainless. 18mm band width. The watch is 34.5mm in dia, 42mm across the lugs, 11.5mm thickness. The watch had a clean and service during the early part of 2004, and is running well and keeping excellent time. There is a very nice 24 jewel movement fitted to this watch. These movements never cease to amaze me, when you pick the watch up and set the time, the movement starts to run from a couple of gentle twists of the wrist. They don't seem to need winding up.
The movement is signed Omega Suisse and is stamped caliber 562. It carries the serial number 18315394, which dates the watch to 1961. The movement is automatic 24 jewel.
The inside of the case is signed Acier Inoxydable Omega watch co fab suisse Swiss made. The case number is 14762-61-sc.
This is an excellent watch in superb, pristine condition, and with its traditional sixties style and very heavy lugs it looks superb.
For repair identification purposes this watch is classified by Omega as an old caliber category 2.
